Biodiesel Film Festival-Next Wednesday at La Pena!

By: sydney on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 at 7:21 am

Dear Friends;

Anyone that shops at the Biofuel Oasis knows that not
all Biodiesel is created equal. Rainforest depletion to fuel our cars? That’s
not right! But there is a better way—by using recycled fuel, creating local economies, and simply driving less. We’re going to
have a night of films and information to raise awareness
about this AND raise funds for our new solar-powered
fueling station which will sell locally made, recycled
biodiesel and urban farming supplies.

Part film fest, part rent party, part barn-raising the
Biofuel Oasis is hosting this entertaining fundraising
event.

Join us:
April 30, 7 pm- 10 pm
La Pena Cultural Center
(3105 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley;510-849-2589).
Mark your
calendars!

On the day before we start paying rent on what will be
the “most sustainable station in the nation,” at Ashby
and Sacramento, we thought we’d try to raise a little
cashola. To that end we have a very special evening in
store.

Films will include excerpts of locally made
Revolution Green, Freedom Fuels featuring Willie
Nelson
, and the recycled fuel cult-classic Fat of the
Land. For those of you who haven’t seen FotL, it’s a
1995 documentary about four pioneering women who
travel around the country transforming fuel from fryer
grease. Set back in the day when no one had ever heard
of biodiesel, they are encountered with disbelief and
awe.
Puppetry by the Big Tadoo troupe
Live demo of how to make biodiesel
–Limited edition silk-screened t-shirt making
Ask the mechanic booth
Presentations about how big biodiesel is negatively affecting Borneo and Argentina
–Sourdough starter give-away
–Singing and kombucha worship with SF’s How to Homestead

It’s going to be fun. Invite your friends,
biodiesel-using and not.
$10-$20

Hope to see you on April 30th!
