About the San Francisco Biofuels Cooperative

The San Francisco Biofuels Cooperative was formed in June of 2004 with the assistance of our biodiesel friends in Berkeley. The Co-op began offering biodiesel to its members in January 2005. The Co-op incorporated as a California Consumers Cooperative in March of 2005.

Our mission is to facilitate access to renewable fuel alternatives to our community, to reduce dependence on petroleum, strengthen the local economy, improve air quality, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Who We Are
San Francisco Biofuels is a community-oriented cooperative organized to advance the use of biofuels in San Francisco.

What We Do
We work with the community and local goverment to promote the use of biofuels in San Francisco.

Strategy
We aim to achieve our mission by:
- Improving access to biofuels in San Francisco.
- Promoting local production of biofuels from local recycled sources.
- Educating the public about biofuels.
- Advocating for increased use of biofuels as a renewable alternative fuel.

Population we serve
We directly serve diesel vehicle owners, whether they be businesses (see supporting businesses at the links page), or individuals; who chose to run their vehicles on biodiesel. Indirectly we serve the San Francisco Bay Area through reduced vehicle emissions (see emissions data) and in a sense, we serve the global community through reduced green house gas emissions. Through our local activism, paper-based media, and this website we serve the world by providing information and resources about biodiesel and other biofuels.
